Learning Objectives: How can we induce a current in a circuit? Flemings Right Hand Rule Explain the operation of a simple A.C. Generator

How can we induce a current in a circuit? I think the tubes are magnets sliding along the tower of magnets. Thats why they go so slow! The tubes are non-magnetic metals. Otherwise, they would stick to the magnets tower and go nowhere. This guys must have some telepathic powers and slow the tubes down with their thoughts! Click here for a more detailed explanation of this effect! Click here for a more detailed explanation of this effect!

How can we induce a current in a circuit? What are the differences and similarities between the video below and the video in the previous slide?

Your task is to create a comic that helps explaining why a magnet falling inside a copper tube is slowed down to Yr7 pupils. Imagine you have become really tiny and you are sitting on the magnet, so that you can see the electrons inside the copper tube. Remember: A current of electrons flowing in a magnetic field induces a magnetic field around the conductor An electric current is a flow of charge The first panel is already made for you and you can add more panels in other slides if you need to. How can we induce a current in a circuit?

Wow, look at all those free electrons I am passing by! Bye Hey! Whos pushing me?

Right Hand Rule and the A.C. Generator

How we can induce a current in a circuit Flemings Right Hand Rule How simple A.C. Generators work Learning outcomes

A bicycle manufacturer wants to develop an electromagnetic braking system for mountain bikes, so that the ordinary brakes dont get worn off too much when braking downhill. Look at the proposed design and explain how each component works and why it is important. Homework Strong permanent magnets Induction loops Resistor Push switch
