1 Sustained activation of AMPK α2 in muscle of subjects with type 2 diabetes after an overnight withdrawal of metformin. Sustained activation of AMPK α2 in muscle of subjects with type 2 diabetes after an overnight withdrawal of metformin. Six subjects who were treated with metformin for 10 weeks underwent a fourth biopsy within 7 days of the 10-week biopsy but without the morning dose of metformin and after an overnight withdrawal period.
