1. How to connect to the Internet from Home
First, make sure you sign-in with the “Workstation Only” box checked once you’re not on the school’s network at home.

2. Click on the “Start” button in the bottom right-hand corner of your desktop.

3. Next, click on the “Control Panel”

4. Click on “Network and Internet Connections”

5. Click on “Internet Options”

6. Click on the “Connections” tab so you see this window

7. Then click on the “Lan Settings” button

8. Under the “Proxy Server” section, uncheck the “Use a proxy server for your LAN” box

9. Now the proxy settings should be unchecked and grayed out
Now the proxy settings should be unchecked and grayed out. Click “Ok” to exit and save changes.

10. If you’re using a wireless network at home, make sure the wireless button is in the on position.
The wireless button is located right above the keyboard on both Dell and HP laptops.

11. Now, click on the “Wireless Network Connection” icon on the bottom right hand corner of the screen

12. Select your network from the list of wireless networks that pop up in the box and click “Connect” (F.Y.I. no wireless networks were found at SHES for this example)
If you’re using a WEP password, be sure to type that in correctly.
Now you’re DONE! Click on “Internet Explorer” to start browsing the internet.
