2 The Age Of Migration Migration is becoming more global as nations/countries are becoming increasingly diversified. Migration is becoming more differentiated such as for; refugees, skilled labour, economic migrants, students, retirees, aranged brides, and permanent settlers. Migration is now being feminised with more and more women moving around.

3 Migration Control In USA
Illegal Immigration includes fines, civil penalties, imprisonment, and deportation. In 2006 it was estimated that there were around 12 million illegal immigrants in USA. These “illegal” acts can come under a range of types/reasons…

4 Reasons Visa Overstay (Anyone). Fraudulent Marriage. Border Crossing.
Entry by sea ports. Slavery. Prostitution. Indispensable.

5 Immigration and Enforcement
Mexico (El Paso, and San Diego). Border fencing. Border patrols. Increasing costs to taxpayers. It has become more organised with the use of smugglers. In 2005, the US House Representatives voted for a separation barrier around the areas not already protected.

6 Activities Using Geography Course Companion P , answer the following… Why does migration need to be controlled? How can migration be controlled? Using Figure (P387), comment on the graph explaining the types of jobs immigrants do suggesting reasons for how the graph looks. Some reasons for illegal immigration are far more serious than others? Which do you feel are more serious than others and why?
