Enough time and attention for choice of topic Chosen topic engages interest of majority of group Visits to agencies and/or interviews with people with whom you don’t often have contact Role for everyone in the group, even those who can’t attend on presentation day Remembering to ask admin staff IN ADVANCE if you need special equipment, photocopying etc

Things which have worked well - presentation
clear introduction clear plan use of literary material (or other arty stuff) varied styles of presentation & types of material balance between experiential & intellectual material cohesiveness between presenters audience involvement well briefed and relevant visiting speaker well planned group tasks and/or discussion

Powerpoint presentations one after another Reading from wordy slides Just downloading stuff off the Internet Poor time management Poor co-ordination between presenters Failure to plan discussion after presentation Forgetting about evaluation and wishing you’d had some feedback

Group tasks Decide on topic (liaise with other groups by txt msg)
Decide how to research it, which agencies to visit Decide on structure of afternoon: presentation and groupwork afterwards Agree who’s doing what - and when Fix time to report back and jointly plan the presentation Don’t forget to include evaluation (forms or other method)
