1. OVERCOMING THE CONSUMING FIRE OF LUST

2. LUST (2 Sam 13:1-20)
Is a strong feeling or desire for something and is closely associated with sexual desire.
A purely physical attraction that has no lasting effect (an over desire that takes something good, twists it and add cravings to it so that you are consumed with it until you are gratified)
Where the physical appearance and attributes of one person ignites emotions of intense desire and excitement in another.
An unbridled sexual longing.

3. CHARACTERISTICS
Lust deceives its victims with temporary pleasure (After the passion clears, the person will discover just how much has been lost and the harm that has been caused to themselves or others)
Lust dissipates when the real person surfaces (You might find the object of your lust very different in reality than in your fantasies)
You feel uneasy or bored after being with or consuming the object of your lust. (The object is only important while it is being enjoyed)
Leads to shallow, superficial relationships (The sense of lust distorts a “want” into a “need”. Lust distorts your thinking so you ignore the things that really make you happy.) .

4. CHARACTERISTICS
When a person’s body is far more important to you than his/her soul.
Based on self gratification and has little to do with true feelings for the other person.
Lust wants to get, love wants to give.
You fall out of lust and not out of love.

5. VICTORY OVER LUST (Ephe 4:17-24, 2 Cor 10:5)
Ask God for help
Die with lust- old way of life died with Christ on the cross -Rom 6:5-8
Walk in the spirit (Gal. 5:16) You can’t fight lust on your own, ask the holy spirit to help you.
Renew your mind- Focus on God’s word and allow him to remove lustful actions and thoughts from your mind.
Put away everything that appeals to the flesh and focus on God

6. VICTORY OVER LUST (Ephe 4:17-24, 2 Cor 10:5)
Make a covenant with your eyes
Through faith in Jesus Christ we receive the new covenant that brings life and strength to our bodies and minds to live in purity. ( The spirit helps us to regain control of our eyes and avoid opportunities to lust)
Discipline your will and thoughts and make the right choices
