National Statistics Act - 1
Provides for very strong legal institutional settings Adopted in 1995 and amended in 2001 Most important elements: Nobody shall be entitled to give to the DG of SURS binding instruction with regard to professional and methodological issues (e.g. methodologies of statistical surveys, extend and kind of data that shall be collected). (a) Programmes of statistical surveys: medium-term and annual. They describe statistical requirements. Eurostat, 8-9 December 2009

(b) Annual programme of statistical surveys: decided by the DG of SURS in order to implement the Programme SURS has the right to collect data from all existing sources reporting units must transmit complete and correct data to SURS free of charge, at the proper time and in the prescribed manner the Programme indicates for each statistical survey: content (list of variables to be reported by reporting units) purpose of the survey periodicity of the survey reference period of the survey selection of statistical units (reporting population) obligatory or voluntary reporting deadline for the submission of data by reporting population deadline for publishing the results by SURS. National Statistics Act - 3
Holders of official and administrative data collections are obliged to: submit to SURS all requested information free of charge use valid national standards (e.g. unique identifications of businesses and people, classification of economic activities, classification of institutional sectors) notify SURS and ask for its opinion prior to setting new or amending existing official or administrative data collections SURS has the right to use identifiable individual data from all sources and may mutually link all individual data Eurostat, 8-9 December 2009

Agreements with institutions - 1
Agreements are signed with institutions which collect statistics in their own fields of work and with holders of administrative data collections (records, registers, databases, etc.), e.g.: Agency for Public Legal Records and Related Services Tax Administration Customs Administration Bank of Slovenia Health Social Security Fund Pension Social Security Fund Central Securities Clearing Corporation Ministry of the Interior Ministry of Transport Ministry of Finance Post and Electronic Communications Agency Eurostat, 8-9 December 2009

Agreements with institutions - 2
Agreements complement National Statistics Act and the Programme of Statistical Surveys. They deal with technical details for the transmission of individual data to SURS and with other forms of cooperation. Currently, 24 agreements are signed relevant for economic statistics.
