2. Lesson 10 – 2nd Conjugation Present and Future conjugations
A conjugation is a grammatical group for verbs, the equivalent of declensions for nouns
Each conjugation has a slightly different pattern
You can identify the conjugation of a verb from its 2nd principal part
-are 1st conjugation e.g. laudare
-ēre 2nd conjugation e.g. docēre
-ere 3rd conjugation e.g. ponere
-ire 4th conjugation e.g. monire
So far all the verbs you have learned have been 1st conjugation. Hopefully you have noticed that there is always an “a” before the inflection e.g. amas, amabimus and amate
This lesson you will be learning about the 2nd conjugation, which simply has an “e” before the inflection
Hint – you can easily recognize 2nd conjugation verbs because their 1st principal part ends in –eo e.g. augeo, doceo, habeo, terreo

Future
habebo I will hold habebimus we will hold
habebis you will hold habebitis ya’ll will hold
habebit she will hold habebunt they will hold
Imperative
habe! Hold! (singular) habete! Hold! (plural)
