This work is fraught with peril, am I mis-using this word? System vs individual
8
Racism as a system Racism
a form of oppression in which one racial group dominates another (in US, whites are dominant group) system of advantage based on race oppression is society-wide, different than individual prejudice/bigotry Racist indicates who benefits from system

Now what? Students are very interested in thinking about this in the clinical learning environment. Race as a biological indicator vs. social construct. Mark do first bullet Amanda cover next

Where to go for help? Frequently asked questions…
What is race-based medicine? How is this different from what I may have learned in medical school? My student came to me and told me that a patient used a micro-aggression towards them? What does this mean? How should I respond? My student used a word that is in English, but I’m not sure what it means in this context, is there a place where I can look it up? I wanted to discuss the medication plan for the patient’s concern and the student asked how I address the social determinants of health of this problem? What do they mean by this question? When I went to medical school and residency, I got training in cultural competency. Now my student asked about cultural humility. How is this different?
