3 Influencing Artists My influencing artist is Lanier Meaders. He is one of the most famous folk potter in the United States. He pretty much kept Southern folk artwork from dying out due to his distinct style and one-of-a kind face jugs.

4 Influencing Artists (contd.)
Meaders face jugs are a featured exhibit in the Smithsonian Institute and other museums around the country. He also was recognized by National Heritage Fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts and in 1987 he received the Governor’s Award for the Arts in Georgia.  Lanier  has also received many other recognitions and awards.

5 Similarities/ Differences
Face jugs Show an expression Not very realistic Not exactly proportional Differences: Meaders’ pots focus more on expressions and character/ My pot focused more on details

6 Would Lanier Meaders liked my work?
Yes, I think Lanier Meaders would’ve liked my work. I think this because my face pot was inspired by his face pots. I also think this because my face pot has a lot of the same qualities and similarities as some of his did.
