a. What is persuasion? Process of inducing others into accepting a point of view by means of reasoning & argumentation

b. What is a compromise? Process of making concessions to settle differences

Process of working toward achieving general agreement within a group

d. What is negotiation? Process of settling differences through a discussion of the issues

Persuasion Compromise
e. How do these processes contribute to the resolution of conflicts & differences on how our government engages political issues? Persuasion POTUS convinces Congress to declare war on N. Korea Compromise Congress repeals Obama Care, replacing it with a watered down version that both parties will accept

Consensus Building Negotiation
e. How do these processes contribute to the resolution of conflicts & differences on how our government engages political issues? Consensus Building The Senate works through the night until they come to a general agreement on a replacement for Obama Care Negotiation BFT & Beachwood School Board reach an agreement on a new teacher’s contract

Civic Participation & Skills In-Class Activity #2
I will divide the class into 5 groups Group 1 – will engage in a discussion on gay marriage illustrating… Group 2 – will engage in a discussion on sanctuary cities illustrating… Group 3 – will engage in a discussion on the U.S. response to N. Korea illustrating… Group 4 – will engage in a discussion on Black Lives Matter vs. Law Enforcement illustrating… Group 5 - will walk around the room with index cards & label each group as either persuasion, negotiation, consensus building, & compromise
