Semiquantitative RT-PCR of GpGCS1 expression in strains K41 (mating-type plus) and K34 (mating-type minus). Polyadenylated mRNAs from vegetative cells, gametes, and activated gametes of plus and minus strains were isolated and subjected to semiquantitative RT-PCR analysis. Expression levels were also examined at the indicated times after mixing plus and minus gametes. GpMID expression was examined to confirm gamete induction in the minus strain. The loading volume for each lane was normalized to the quantity of EF-like gene (internal control) product.
