2 Introducing..... WaterGuard!
A unique liquid which spreads over the surface of water to form a very thin film and reduce evaporation.

4 Evaporation vs Daily Temperature*
*Not considering additional wind and other contributions

5 Evaporation Losses In S.A.
Average annual evaporation loss in South Africa: approx 1.8 metres

6 How Significant Are Evaporation Losses?
8 mm daily evaporation 1 m2 1 m2 x 8 mm = 8 litres per day 10 hectare reservoir = 800,000 litres/day = 24 MILLION litres/month

7 Savings You Can Expect With WaterGuard
Trials have achieved evaporation savings of 50% and above.

8 How Does WaterGuard Work?
The silicone-based molecules in WaterGuard repel each other strongly when they come in contact with the water. This results in a strong spreading action across the surface, forming a liquid ‘blanket’ to reduce evaporation.

9 Demonstration

10 Application Methods WaterGuard can simply be poured on to the water directly from the drum, and it will spread rapidly across the surface.

11 Rain, Wave And Wind Action?
The film is very resistant to disturbances. It will move around slowly over the surface, but will not build up at one end of the water body. Rain will not affect the blanket – the raindrops go through without disturbing the film.

12 Advantages Does not affect the water chemistry Eco-friendly Degradable
Cost – effective Does not affect the water chemistry Eco-friendly Degradable Easy to apply

13 Western Cape Dams Assuming that we use a base of 8mm/m2 per day for water loss. Steenbras dam = 3.642Km2 surface area or m2. This equates to a loss of lt/day. Assume a saving of 50% = using waterguard will save lt/day.

14 Western Cape Dams An average Middle income household consisting of 2 parents and 3 children will use approximately 1 250lt per day. Therefore by using waterguard on Steenbras dam alone you can then supply water to a further households. *Before Drought Restrictions

15 Enter Drought Period with Water
WaterGuard should especially be used during and shortly after the wet season. This method would seal the water body at maximum capacity. The result of which would see you through mild-severe droughts.

16 Enter Drought Period with Water
End Wet season Full Dry season with WaterGuard Sustainable Dry season without WaterGuard HIGH CONCERN

17 Conclusion South Africa is the worlds 30th driest country and the 5th driest per capita in the world. If we do not conserve our most precious resource we will not have a future for our children.

18 Demonstration Our WaterGuard test in the office after 4 weeks.
The glass on left is treated with waterguard and has 10.82% evaporation.  The glass on right is untreated and has 75.68% evaporation. That is a 65% saving.

19 Current Supply We currently supply product to the pool industry and have distributers such as Speck Pumps, Marbelite, Stark Ayres and private pool stores and garden centres such as Ben Bell. We also supply the agricultural industry through distributers such as KaapAgri to farmers.
