Franklin Delano Roosevelt took on the heroic task of leading a nation that was in the pits of despair. His progressive and bold moves toward financial health won him a great deal of America’s respect as a leader. However, his actions opened a new set of expectations in addition to a standard of greater spending from our government. To this day Americans debate the benefits and drawbacks of these forms of governmental action.
