2 8/5/ :04 PM SNOW PLAN The City of Clifton D.P.W., after a critique meeting with the division’s supervisors, yearly reviews the snow plan yearly, to improve techniques and resolve experienced issues during the previous snow season. During the winter storm season the department is vigilant and constantly monitors several weather analytical prediction– especially when a storm may be approaching our region Means of communications, radio, telephone, and other emergency communication lines are re-established 24/7 with the Primarily with Police, Fire and Board of Education amongst other departments and intra county and state agencies. Salt Brine is manufactured and stocked in early November. Road Salt is purchased and fully stocked by mid November By Thanksgiving weekend, the equipment is all checked loaded and ready to be deployed as needed. © 2007 Microsoft Corporation. 8/5/ :04 PM Residential cooperation By ordinance the residents have 12 hours AFTER it stopped snowing to clear their sidewalk and apron RESIDENT OFTEN DO NOT ALLOW AMPLE TIME FOR US TO PLOW THE STREET TO THEN CLEAR THEIR APRON OR SIDEWALK -This causes friction as we are on a schedule and the resident feel we have “Blocked them in”, give us time to go thru your street. NEW JERSEY ETHICS STATUES and our INSURANCE CARRIER Forbid us from “Just clear my apron” or “ One pass and its ok” FIRE ENGINE OR AMBULANCES CANNOT MAKE THE TURNS IN AN EMERGENCY DO NOT THROW SNOW ON STREET The middle of the street will be packed and turn into ICE overnight- making driving and getting out of your spot even more difficult POLICE AND CODE ENFORCEMENT WILL BE OUT TO SUMMONS VIOLATORS © 2007 Microsoft Corporation. 12 8/5/ :04 PM FINALLY During the weekday and during business hours, we monitor three( 3) weather services stations On weekends, holiday and after business hours -the Police and Fire Department on duty commanders advise us when road conditions are bad and we need to deploy our resources. CONCLUSION WINTER CONDITIONS CAN BE DANGEROUS AND PLACE MUCH STRESS ON EVERYONE. Lets all work together so we can get back to normal in a reasonable time.
