Who Is Required To Undertake What Training
Rule of thumb: If training module is available and it’s relevant to work you perform or supervise, then training requirement applies. Scenario: Worker handles ether in fume cupboard and the solvent ignites. Regulator comes in to investigate. First questions: “Where is the risk assessment, and has the mandated training been undertaken?”

Each worker with card access performing independent work (i.e. not supervised at all times) to fill out one per candidature/ supervisor. Currently NOT taking local RSC training into account.

Local safety induction Restricted building access (3 months max.)
What Is RSC’s Approach Local safety induction Restricted building access (3 months max.) Training Needs Assessment (TNA; with supervisor) Complete all relevant training (ordinarily less than 1 month; both ANU modules and local training) Extended building access once training completion confirmed (TNA + HRMS record)

How Do I Get Access To The Training
PULSE Chemical Safety Laser Safety Liquid Nitrogen Ionising Radiation Incident & Hazard Reporting (Figtree) Asbestos Comcare WHS WATTLE Compressed Gases (OHSCGCS_2019) Corrosives Safety (OHSC_2019) Flammable Liquids Safety (FLSA_2019) Gene Technology Practices (GNTP_2019) Face-to-face (sign-up via HORUS/ISIS, course material on WATTLE or external) Biological Safety External training providers (e.g. First Aid, SCBA/Hazmat, Heights) Directly available – no sign-up needed. Simply launch desired module. Search for Wattle Search Codes, then click “enroll”. This will grant access to the materials and quiz.

RSC RSC Induction - PULSE (June 2019) Increased awareness due to increased course completions ANU Remaining WATTLE courses transferring to PULSE Biosafety course becoming online-only 2 mandatory Asbestos modules amalgamating to 1 Review of course material and applicability commencing Sept – input from local areas essential Risk Management Methodology and Management System Training modules (drafted Sept. 2019, roll-out early 2020)
