startle: adj. surprise The loud noise startled me. hesitant: adv. not sure or certain. I was hesitant to drive a go-cart since I have never done it before. sharecropper: n. A person who farms land for the owner in return for part of the crops

3 “The Circuit” Migrant: n. A person, animal, or bird that moves from one place to another. The migrant worker finished his job and is moving on to the next farm.
