Low-T Baking at Cornell
J. T. Maniscalco CLASSE, Cornell University 8/7/2019 James Maniscalco
2
Overview LTE1-14: 800 °C UHV, 120 °C N2 48 hr
+ 75 °C 6 hr in situ LTE1-15: 800 °C UHV, 120 °C UHV 48 hr + HF rinse STE1-1 (2.6 GHz): 800 °C UHV, 160 °C N2 48 hr + HF rinse, + 75 °C 6 hr (furnace) 8/7/2019 James Maniscalco

In situ baking Baking setup:
Cavity assembled on insert + pumped down (ion pump) Instrumentation removed Insulating box assembled, thermocouples mounted on cavity PID controller maintains setpoint 8/7/2019 James Maniscalco

LTE1-14: 800 °C UHV, 120 °C N2 48 hr 120 °C N treatment decreased quench field, increased Q Decrease in RBCS 75 °C treatment restored quench field, lowered high field Q (FE activated) Increase in R0 – more trapped flux? 2K results 8/7/2019 James Maniscalco
5
LTE1-15: 800 °C UHV, 120 °C UHV 48 hr 75 °C treatment improved quench field, lowered Q 8 MV/m) Increase in R0 – more trapped flux? Slight increase in RBCS Low R0, lower quench field restored by HF rinse Subsequent 75 °C gives no change 2K results 8/7/2019 James Maniscalco
6
STE1-1 (2.6 GHz): 160 °C HF + 75 °C (in furnace): Decrease R0, RBCS
Increase quench field 2K results 8/7/2019 James Maniscalco
