2 Measurement Systems: 1. English system (or U.S. customary units) - used in U.S. 2. SI system (or Metric system) - used worldwide.

Established in France 1790 1960 revised for international scientific agreement. SI is simple because it is based on factors of 10.

4 Categories of Units: A) Base Units - based on a physical constant. Ex/ meter, gram B) Derived Units - come from base units. Ex/ area, volume
