9 Blueprint-Aligned Outcomes
Aligned with Blueprint Section III (Where do we want to go?) and Section IV (How do we get there?) Vision. State 2-5 things you hope will be true in your region 10 years from now through the lens of education, workforce development, and economic development to address priority industries and occupations identified in your blueprint. Mission. State what core partners will do in order to achieve your vision. Goals. Describe your shared goals. What will you accomplish by 2018, 2020, and 2022? Shared Strategies. Describe how your region will work collaboratively to achieve your vision, mission, and goals.

10 Definition Vision: What do we want? What do you hope will be true in your region 10 years from now? Our vision is the more perfect world we hope to create, grounded in our values – our criteria. It helps us identify strategies that will guide us to our vision. Aim for inspiring – this should be an idea that makes people feel good when they hear it. This is a definition of a vision. Explain to group.

Work Vision: What do we want? Break into small groups of 2-5 people. Why to live here in 2027: Half of the groups work on developing content for a realtor brochure that is designed to attract people to move to the area. Why to locate your business here in 2027: The other half of groups will work on developing content for a brochure that sells business owners on why they should relocate or start their business to the area. What region-specific assets attract businesses to the area? Reconvene in 20 minutes. Use the content generated during this section for writing a vision statement for your blueprint.

Definition Mission: What are we doing to get what we want? Our role in building the world we want (as described by the vision) in the way we want to build it (aligned with our values/criteria) Vision is what we aspire to accomplish; mission is what we do What will we do as a regional team? What will each core partner do to reach our vision? For example: our education partners will focus resources on expanding career awareness, as well as educational programming in priority industries X, Y, and Z. These are broad mission statements, not specific strategies (next time). Mission statements should be simple enough for all to understand, important enough for all to support Aim for no more than words This is a definition of a mission. Explain to group.

Sample metrics may include - economic impact; industry development cycle; demographics; skill gaps closed; general labor pool educational level; credential level; etc. This will give you your goal content.
