Self Esteem The way we view ourselves.
People with positive self esteem are better able to cope with change, accept challenges, deal with failure and are less likely to do things they aren't comfortable with to “Fit In”. The question is: What has made you the person you are today?

Sense of Belonging: Having attachments to others. Sense of Purpose: Goal Setting A Positive Outlook: Positive: “Things are Going to be Okay” = Optimist Negative: “We’re all gonna die!” = Pessimist Positive “Self Talk”: Constructive Criticism

Positive and Negative Feedback: Feedback: How we communicate with each other. Examples: Body Language, Comments, Tone, Voice Inflection, Facial Expression, Etc.

The Next Question is: What Outside Factors Influence You?
Heredity: All genetic traits passed down from parents to their children. Body Type: Tall, Short, Thin or Heavy Intelligence: Predisposition for Certain types of intelligence Appearance: Hair & Eye Color, Facial Structure Tendency Toward Disease: Heart Disease, Diabetes, Cancer Etc…

Environment = Sum total of your Surroundings
Where you grew up. Where you live now. Family and Friends. All of your life experiences totaled.

Physical: Living and Biological Social: (Peer Group, Work Group, Family) Cultural: (Ethnic & Religious Traditions, Practices & Beliefs)

So What’s the Point? The Point is that everything we’ve just talked about up until this moment means absolutely NOTHING…

The Real Issue is…

It Doesn’t Matter… You get to choose how you act.
It doesn’t matter who your parents are. Where you grew up. Where you live now. Your home life. What you look like. Your athletic ability. Whether or not you were abused, neglected. If your parents don’t have any money, or if they’re rich. NONE OF IT MATTERS BECAUSE YOU GET TO CHOOSE TO BE THE PERSON YOU WANT TO BE EVERY SINGLE DAY! Behavior: The way you CHOOSE to act in your environment.

1. Substance abuse: Drinking, Drugs & Alcohol. 2. Unhealthy Eating 3. Physical Inactivity: Sedentary Lifestyle 4. Sexual Behavior 5. Risk Taking
