Electron Pathways (Energy levels, Orbits or Shells)- the location of the electrons around the nucleus. Follows the rows or periods of the Periodic Table. (2,8,8,18,etc.)
Valence – the number of electrons in the outer most electron pathway.( Follows the columns of the Periodic table : +1 Alkali Metals, +2 Alkaline Earth Metal, + 3 Boron family, +/- 4 Carbon family, - 3 Nitrogen Family, -1 Halogens, 0 Nobel (or inert) Gases
