Saturated: maximum (stable) concentration
QUESTION: If Figure A represents a saturated solution, Figure B can be described as A. unsaturated and less dilute B. unsaturated and less concentrated C. supersaturated and more concentrated Saturated: maximum (stable) concentration Supersaturated: more concentrated, but unstable Unsaturated: less concentrated or more dilute If Figure A represents a saturated solution, Figure B can be described as A. unsaturated and more dilute B. unsaturated and more concentrated C. supersaturated and more concentrated PAUSE CLICK A saturated solution is one that has the highest possible stable concentration of solute particles. CLICK It is possible to have a higher concentration of solute particles, but the solution would be unstable. Over time, the solute particles will come out of the solution as a solid. If we examine Figure B, it is obviously is less concentrated compared to Figure B. So choice C is incorrect. CROSS OUT choice C Figure B does not represent a supersaturated or more concentrated solution. Choice A is also wrong. The word dilute is the opposite of concentrated. A less dilute solution is more concentrated. CLICK Choice B is correct. Figure B represents a solution that is less concentrated…. Or more dilute…. compared to the solution represented in Figure A. Since the solution in Figure A is saturated, we refer to the solution in Figure B as unsaturated. PAUSE END RECORDING
