All 4G+ areas supporting 5G cell sites will include ‘5 carriers’ of spectrum (1800MHz, 2100MHz (formerly used for 3G), 3 x carriers of 2600MHz).
5G devices draw on both 4G and 5G spectrum concurrently. Therefore, the 5G device experience is dependent on the underlying 4G network capability, as well as 5G.
With the first phase of 5G technology, voice calls will continue to be carried by 4G. However, voice and data will run concurrently on 5G handsets, as it does for 4G handsets today.
