Symbols/Quotes Dan Cody – “A few days later he took him down to Duluth and bought him a blue coat, six pairs of trousers, and a yachting cap” (100). Ella Kaye – “He never understood the legal device that was used against him, but what remained of the millions went in tact to Ella Kaye” (100). Gatsby’s parties – “’She didn’t like it,’ he said immediately. ‘Of course she did.’ ‘She didn’t like it,’ he insisted, ‘she didn’t have a good time’” (109). Rumors “’Where’s you hear that?’ ‘I didn’t hear it. I imagined it. A lot of these newly rich people are just bootleggers, you know.’ ‘Not Gatsby,’ I said shortly” (107). Daisy “’I wouldn’t aske too much of her,’ I ventured, ‘You can’t repeat the past.’ ‘Can’t repeat the past?’ he cried incredulously, ‘Why of course you can!’” (110).
