1. GOALTENDING Rule 4.22 9.12 THE FIVE ELEMENTS:
All five of the following must be present for GT to occur:
Shot (try/tap)
Downward Flight
Entire Ball Must be above the level of the basket
Chance to go in
No part of ball in cylinder

It is also Goaltending during a free-throw attempt, when an opponent of the free thrower, touches the ball while it is outside of the cylinder.
Even if the ball is going up
Or some of the other five elements are not present

3. GOALTENDING Rule 4.22 9.12 WHAT’S THE PENALTY?
1, 2, or 3 Points awarded if by Defense
No basket if by offense
If Goaltending occurs during a free-throw – award one point for the throw and administer a Technical Foul on the player who touched the ball.
