Using slope/intercept
How do you write a linear function in slope/intercept form from a graph? SPI:
2
Activator: Identify the slope and the y-intercept from the equation: y = 2/5x + 2
3
Writing the slope/intercept equation from a graph
Step 1: Find the slope. You can count or you can use the slope equation (y2 – y1 / x2 – x1) using the slope equation may be the best choice. Step 2: Find the y-intercept (where the line crosses the y-axis) Step 3: plug your slope and y-intercept into the y=mx + b (m=slope and b= y-intercept) Remember to leave x in the equation

Slope/intercept equation from ordered pairs
When you are given just a set of ordered pairs, you find the slope/intercept equation by: Step 1: finding the slope using the slope equation Step 2: Find the y-intercept (what do you know about the y-intercept)
