2. Patient population. Five patients were lost to follow-up after S1R; S1R, Stage 1 reconstruction; ISD, interstage death; S2R, stage 2 reconstruction.1 Controls were randomly selected (3 for each case from within operative year of case) from the cohort of patients surviving to S2R.
