Group Operational Structure Massmart is a South African-based, globally competitive regional management group, invested in a managed portfolio of differentiated, complementary, large-format focused wholesale stores and medium-sized retail formats, as well as hybrid stores that cater to retail, wholesale and trader customers The Group is 51% owned by Walmart International Massmart is listed on the main board of the JSE Securities Exchange in the Consumer Services-Retail sector Massmart is the second-largest distributor of consumer goods in Africa, the leading retailer of general merchandise, liquor and home improvement equipment and supplies, and the leading wholesaler of basic foods Massmart operates in 13 countries in sub-Saharan Africa through the Group’s four operating divisions – Massdiscounters, Masswarehouse, Massbuild and Masscash CEO : Guy Hayward

Overview Massmart operates four divisions: Massdiscounters, Masswarehouse, Massbuild and Masscash (Retail and Wholesale) Each division is run as their own entity, with their own MD and business functions The Group is undergoing a period of increased collaboration across and within divisions. Shareholding Massmart’s largest shareholder is Walmart who, since 2011, is the controlling shareholder with 52.4% of the shareholding Next to Walmart the single largest shareholders are Aberdeen Asset Management Group (19.8%) and Public Investment Corporation (5.8%)
