1 Pitch for TeenTech Promo
Pitch for TeenTech Promo By Phelisa Mfazwe

2 Introduction Client: Basingstoke Consortium (Jackie Calvert)
Basingstoke Consortium is a charity in Hampshire that works with young people to help give them the motivation, self-confidence, attitudes and skills for adult life. They have worked with business, education and the local community for 28 years, and have a strong track record in developing innovative programmes and sustainable partnerships. TeenTech is an event founded by Maggie Philbin that helps young people explore the opportunities and careers in science, technology and engineering. Variety of companies are involved for example Sony, AWE, Air Products, Fujisu and including Queen Mary’s College.

3 Target Audience The target audience for this video will be young teenagers age because it’s about encouraging the youth in science and technology and giving them an opportunity to learn the wide variety of jobs and careers they could have an interest in. In terms of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs the target audience have the need to know and understand and discovery the opportunities out there for them in science, technology and engineering. Our audience are also mainstreamers who are people who live the everyday world and respond to big established brands. Teenagers would be interested in this video because it could spark up an fascination in science and technology and they would find out about jobs they couldn’t imagine existed. So overall this will open their eyes to see all the opportunities they would be interested in. The target audience would live in Basingstoke as the event takes place there every year. TeenTech will have a variety of stalls and companies that the students will find fascinating for example Breezefm which is a radio station will be there to talk about what they do, JVC will have their products such as headphones, cameras etc. Laleham will have a stall where the students will be at a lab and packing the product and working as a team. So these few of the companies and products that will be there for the target audience to learn and enjoy.

4 Ideas and concepts Narrative (Structure of the video):
Stalls: showing the different companies and their product. Student work: app challenge, ideas wall and scientist wall Challenge zone: the students interacting and taking part. Awards: showing the students claiming awards and presentations. Interviews: Maggie & Students. (This will be shown between the different parts of the video.) Images: TeenTech logo, Basingstoke consortium and (if allowed) company logos.

5 Ideas and concepts Our inspirations for this video are the national TeenTech video that is shown all over the UK and also last year’s TeenTech video. The are a variety of elements we are going to use in the interviews that will work will for the genre for example: Having a lower third that includes the name of the person being interviewed. This is important to have because it gives the audience information about who is being interviewed and how they are relevant to the to the video.

6 Ideas and concepts Our video will appeal to the target audience in a variety of ways. For example the music that we will include will be upbeat and we will try and capture the atmosphere that combines science, technology and engineering together. The sounds that were used in previous TeenTech videos are diegetic and non-diegetic (Music), which included under when people are talking and  the logo of the company and shot of students involved in the activity. The framing of the shot will depend on the location we film the interviews at and make sure that it’s an aesthetically pleasing. For example if we interview students, we want to capture the environment they will be working at to have a fun atmosphere.

7 Crew The crew that will be at the event:
Phelisa Mfazwe (Director and cinematographer) Maria Hanrahan (Interviewer and cinematographer) Stacey Willis (cinematographer) Connor Griffiths (cinematographer)

8 Timescale As we have one day to film the event we have carefully planned out what to film when and as the Jackie Calvert has handed us a schedule sheet of what time activities will be taking place we have created a production schedule so that we are on track. We spoke with our client and for now there is no set date for when the video shall be done but we will be working on it as soon as possible and we will also be ing Jackie if there are any specific things she would like included. This is what the client through the s has requested “The emphasis must be on the students and the activities. I am keen that it makes the link with ourselves (Basingstoke Consortium), I don’t think we will need establishing shot of hotel or close-ups of: hotel name, company posters or celebrity posters.  Include wide shots of the Insight Zone if you have them.  Audience needs to get the flavour of the event, how busy and interactive it is.” We will meet with Jackie to watch the finished draft so that she can talk to us in person on what she like and what she didn't like therefore we can make changes immediately.
