Senate controls money so Consuls while they lead the military need money from the Senate to run the army Assemblies ratify treaties so Consuls actions must be so to please the people in order to gain the approval of the assemblies for their war efforts and agreements Assemblies pass the laws proposed by the Senate Consuls appointed by assembly Consuls could veto each other Checks and Balances

Patricians vs Plebeians
The Roman Republic Government was originally controlled by patricians Over time the plebeians fought for more rights Council of Plebs was an assembly created for them to voice their views 1 Consul eventually had to be a plebeian They were behind having the 12 Tables Written Patricians vs Plebeians
