-Caused the city of Mombasa surrendered to authority

4. Origin and Travels The First Voyages to India (1497-1498;1502-1503)
Stopped on the coast of East Africa and visited wealthy Swahili city state.
23-Day voyages across the Indian Ocean, the first European to reach calicut.
