S. cerevisiae Bre1p confers resistance to apoptosis induced by H2O2.
S. cerevisiae Bre1p confers resistance to apoptosis induced by H2O2. (A) Wild-type (wt) and Δbre1 yeast cells harbouring the empty vector control, and ProtA-Bre1p-overexpressing cells were treated with 0.6 mM H2O2 for 8 hours and survival was determined by clonogenicity. Data represent means ± s.d. (n=6; ***P<0.001). (B) ROS accumulation and DNA fragmentation in wild-type (wt) and Δbre1 cells harbouring the vector control or overexpressing ProtA-Bre1p was determined by DHE staining and TUNEL staining, respectively. (C) DHE-positive and (D) TUNEL-positive cells were quantified by manually counting at least 500 cells. Data represent means ± s.d. (n=3). David Walter et al. J Cell Sci 2010;123: © 2010.
