Endangered Bats by Bobbie Kalman Menu of Ways Informational Readers Stop and Jot T- Chart Boxes and Bullets Bullets and Boxes I I’m learning I’m thinking Bats have bodies that are built for flying.pg. 10 Their wings are made up of long arms and fingers. Bats have powerful chests and back muscles, which they use to move their wings. Bats have short legs – their legs are so short that that rarely walk! I am thinking that bats are like us because we are warm blooded and have backbones. I am learning that bats are mammals and are warm blooded. Their wings are made up of long arms and fingers. Bats have powerful chests and back muscles, which they use to move their wings. Bats have short legs – their legs are so short that that rarely walk! This is mostly about bats have bodies built for flying. Growing an idea/theory with evidence (multiple) Growing an Idea/Theory About My Topic Compare and Contrast Text Features/Author’s Purpose p ,of In the book What is a Bat I learned that bats hibernate in the winter but in the other book Endangered Bats ,I Learned that bats that hibernate in roost are called hibernacula .I’m thinking that when they hibernate they get very close to each other and sleep in a column to keep warm. m I just read that bats rely on there five senses The idea this is making me have about a bats senses is they use them to protect themselves and find food. I’m also thinking that there senses must be really strong because they use them so much. I’m thinking tons of bats live tight spaces away from people because in the text it says bats live in colonies made up of thousands of bats. Also in the text it says that large bat colonies live in caves, tunnels, and under bridges. In the diagram of the bats body pg 10 the author is teaching me about the different body parts of the bat. For example sharp claws and large ears .The reason the author included this is so I can see how the bat uses its body parts to survive.
