Accurate assessments of cultural needs (Humle, 2010) Promotion of more positive patient outcomes Development of cultural proficiency (Engebretson, Mahoney, & Carlson, 2007) Flexibility of health care policies to provide appropriate culture-sensitive care (Schim, Doorenbos, Benkert & Miller, 2007) Accommodation for multicultural populations Promotes individualized, meaningful care to each patient

Environment: All aspects of the patient’s experience including portions of: Physical Emotional Cultural Social (Leininger, 1988, p.156) Nursing: “Provide culturally congruent nursing care in order to improve or offer a different kind of nursing care service to people of diverse or similar cultures” (Leininger, 1996, p.72).
