Working for a closer economy Proximity Economic Development in Barcelona New Approach PROXIMITY GOALS: Promote plural economy from a proximity perspective  Balanced economic activity: compatible with and respectful towards other human activities and local residents’ need.  Helps to meet each area's needs: generating well-being at a micro level.  Highlights district and neighbourhood economic assets.  Attends to the economy in its diverse forms, practices and invisible dimensions. 2. Promote economic activity tackling socioeconomic inequalities  Reduce the socio-economic inequalities gap between areas.  intervenes more intensely in disadvantaged districts and neighbourhoods to create socio-economic progress. We talk about 3 types of distances: Physical: be closer to the districts and neighbourhoods Communicative: we need to be better explained and adapt the message and channels Methodological: tailor-made and coproduced solutions with the territories The physical distance is being tackled with 3 territorial levels of intervention The communicative and methodological distance is being tackled with new tools and resources 2

. Matchfunding- Conjuntament What is it? New model for financing projects combining Crowdfunding (Private Funds) + Public Funds Main idea: for each euro invested by citizens in the crowdfunding, the administration adds another one Aim: get a multiplier effect and encourage co-responsible investment in projects that have society support. +1 PRIVATE +1 PUBLIC 7

Supported by GOTEO: Crowdfunding platform specialized in Social Projects, with previous expertise in matchfunding campaigns (Provincial Council of Guipuzkoa, Zaragoza City Council, etc). CONJUNTAMENT “Do something together” in Catalan and it also refers to A-juntament (City Council) 8
