Vessel density is decreased in tumors grown in Fbln5−/− mice.
Vessel density is decreased in tumors grown inFbln5−/−mice. (A) Sections from subcutaneous and orthotopic tumors were stained with MECA-32 (green), and counterstained with DAPI (blue), to analyze blood vessel density. The numbers of MECA-32-positive structures were counted in a minimum of six microscopic fields (total magnification, 200×) from each tumor (at least three tumors per genotype) in both the subcutaneous (top panels) and orthotopic (bottom panels) settings. *P<0.05, ***P<0.0001, Student’s t-test. Mean blood vessel density ± standard deviation (s.d.). (B) MECA-32-positive blood vessel density in non-tumor-bearing normal pancreas from WT and Fbln5−/− mice was determined by immunohistochemistry. Mean blood vessel density ± s.e.m. is shown. *P<0.05. Bars, 50 μm. Marie K. Schluterman et al. Dis. Model. Mech. 2010;3: ©2010 by The Company of Biologists Limited
