THE PLAN: Today’s lesson has the potential to be chaotic as we are going to work in groups and run two simultaneous activities.
To help keep things calm, a video of a sailing boat will be playing on a small screen throughout the entire lesson. This will be both relaxing and atmospheric!:

4. Pirates Pirates! THE GROUPS: Get into groups of 4.
Give each person a number between 1 and 4. Person 1 should have the best memory, person 4 should have the neatest writing!

5. Pirates Pirates! THE ACTIVITIES: The story:
I am going to tell number 1s a story about pirates. No-one is allowed to write anything and only number 1s can listen.
Number 1s then tell number 2s what they remember about the story. Try to remember key facts, like names, dates and places.
Number 2s then tell number 3s. At this point, number 1s are not allowed to mention the story!
Number 3s then tell number 4s. Numbers 1 and 2 are not allowed to mention the story!
Number 4s then write down what they have heard.
The extra information:
Anyone not involved in story-telling must learn the information
that their group has been given about pirates.
You are not allowed to discuss the story at your table.
You may divide the information up and learn sections each.
At the end of the lesson you will have a group knowledge test to see what
you can remember.
