Our vision: All children and youth are healthy, thriving and successful. Our mission: Advance and advocate for school-based health care to ensure the health and academic success of children and youth statewide Since 2010 State affiliate of the National School-Based Health Alliance A bit of SBHC history in WA: SBHCs in WA started with a pilot at Rainier Beach High School in the late 1980s. This successful pilot paved the way for the Families and Education levy support of school-based health centers in Seattle, beginning in the early 1990s. There are now more than 45 SBHCs across the state, which we’ll talk more about in a bit. The Washington School-Based Health Alliance: Has been actively working to promote and support school-based health care in Washington since 2010. Our mission: Advance and advocate for school-based health care to ensure the health and academic success of children and youth statewide. A year ago, the Alliance was provided funding by Kaiser Permanente to staff the organization and move the work forward with more resources here in WA. We are a state affiliate of the National SBHA Through the National Alliance and a network of state-level organizations doing this work, we are connected to leaders and resources in school-based health care across the country. We are building capacity and resources as a WA Alliance to support the work here in our state…
