3 Welcome Thank you for volunteering for the Chartered IIA, our volunteers play a key role in helping to shape the future of the internal audit profession. The Chartered IIA is here to support and represent our members. The more actively you are involved, the better we will do that. Being a volunteer is a great way to help shape the institute and get the most out of your membership.

4 Organising events If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail! - Benjamin Franklin

5 Organising events Volunteer-run events provide members with valuable learning and networking opportunities. They also promote member engagement with the institute. Please familiarise yourself with our procedures to help us ensure your event is a success. To give members plenty of notice about events we publish details on the website at least eight weeks in advance. We also try to include them in the bi-monthly members' magazine, Audit & Risk (check deadlines). To ensure we maximise the promotion of your event, we need a full brief from you no less than 10 weeks prior to the event using the template provided. Please complete the brief in full, the marketing team will write the 'promotional copy’ to ensure the tone and messaging is correct and on brand. Please send your completed brief to the events team at (please note the events team works to a three (3) day service turn around). Download the event brief template

6 CPE requirements Events provide members with valuable CPE and they are an important part of our professional development offering. To ensure every event qualifies as an accredited CPE event, we need to ensure that a new, stricter set of standards is met.  All events must meet CPE standards All events are supported by stated, measurable learning objectives. For example, 'On completion of this activity successful participants will be able to …' followed by an active verb All events have an explicit link to the relevant elements of the IIA Global Competency Framework All events have a stated level relating to characteristics of the target audience Event content is recent, relevant, and reliable Event content is planned, varied, stimulating and interactive Checks are made within the event to confirm that learning is taking place Information available to participants in advance is timely, accurate and informative The provider creates an opportunity for participants to provide feedback CPE points are awarded for whole hours only with a minimum duration of 50 minutes constituting one point. A session of 50 minutes can be 40–45 minutes presentation with 5–10 minutes Q&A. All delegates will receive a CPE attendance certificate after an event. That means we need to know who actually attended your event. Please ask delegates to sign in to the event and then send the list of attendees to the events team. Read members' guide to CPE

7 Social media The Institute has four social media channels: Facebook
Twitter LinkedIn (including three official groups | Chartered Institute’s official group | Audit Leaders group | Aspire Community) YouTube If you already use social media, please consider promoting your event via your own personal LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook accounts to broaden the 'reach' of the event. You may mention the Institute in your posts e.g. The Institute’s main social media channels are used to promote our key conferences and events (including Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Midlands and South West conference), discuss emerging themes and launch key policy initiatives. The creation of new groups and/or pages is not permitted or endorsed by the Institute.

8 Social media To offer greater support to our regions we have introduced social media assets. Regions may request a LinkedIn graphic image with key event details, so you can share your event on your own LinkedIn profile. Example templates (Marketing will take care of design)

9 Sponsorships and partnerships
The only terms that may be used when hosting an event with a third party are: In association with Supported by Sponsored by The use of the above terms may only be used in relation to the specific event rather than the brand/company as a whole. They are not a sponsor of the Chartered IIA, only the event. When preparing to use one of the above terms, you must seek approval from the Institutes Events Team first. Please your request to The event must not conflict or be in competition with any other Institute event within a month of being held. Use of the Institute brand/logo and associated assets must only be used in conjunction with and related to the specific event in question. All artwork is to be obtained from marketing using the events form. All third party artwork (assets, imagery) to be agreed by the Institutes marketing team. Please for approval. Correct Institute branding must be used throughout the event – sourced by marketing or the events team.

10 Speakers Speaker’s presentations must not be a sales pitch.
Speaker’s presentations must not be offensive and damaging to the Institute’s reputation or brand. When speaking at an event, it must be made clear to the audience that the speaker’s words and presentation is of their own views and not those of the Institutes. The brand the speaker represents must not conflict or be a competitor or be damaging to the Institutes brand. Speakers must be approved by your regional co-ordinator first and their content reviewed by the events team (conferences only). When a speaker is representing the Institute at an event, they must use the correct ‘tone of voice’ set out by the brand guidelines. Speakers must not be negative towards the brand of the Institute.

11 Speaker bio requirements
All contributing speakers require a biography that sets out who they are and what their level of responsibility is. This is something which we will obtain from you ahead of events taking place. All speaker biographies should be roughly words in length and include the following: Your current position and responsibilities A summary of previous (relevant) positions held A list of qualifications (applicable to your current position) A photo – preferably thumbnail size and high quality.

12 Thank you
