3 Course organisation Monographic course (Giglioni): lectures, 2 hours each, in the second semester (2 days/week) Language training classes (King/Potter): classes, 2 hours each, in the second semester (2days/week) 3

7 B2: Vantage or Upper-Intermediate
Can understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options. 7 7

18 Assessment Written language test (lettori: cloze+dictation)
A FEW DAYS LATER…. Info Transfer (with Giglioni, 20 minutes before the beginning of the oral inteerviews) Oral language test (with lettori, selected readings) Oral part of the monographic course (if you don’t pass interim test) 18

19 Assessment - All the parts contribute to the final mark
- Students have to pass lettori’s written test first, and then do the remaining parts (unless they have already passed interim tests, in that case they simple go for teh interviewa with lettori) If yo are not satisfied with one of your marks, you have to come to VISONE COMPITI and tell the professor. N.B.: if you refuse one mark it will be erased form the lists and you take responsibility for getting a lower one in the future (or a higher one) 19

20 Interim test I Info tranfer in a set of notes testing
listening, grammar and syntax If you cannot take this interim test or do not pass it, you will do it when you take the oral exam. If you pass the interim test, it will be valid forever 20

21 - closed and semi-closed questions lasting about 30 minutes
Interim test II - closed and semi-closed questions lasting about 30 minutes - topics: special discourses and genres, word formation, word classes, phonetics If you cannot take interim test or do not pass it, you will be examined on the pertinent contents when you take the oral exam. If you pass this interim test, it will valid forever 21

22 Course materials Monographic course Materials will be provided to students in class and PPTs and word files will be posted in Giglioni «pagina personale docente». N.B.: no books to be bought.
