Associating Metadata with a Device
Metadata can be associated by Hardware ID Model ID Use Model ID whenever possible When using Hardware IDs, be as specific as possible You don’t want your metadata being associated with all keyboards or a complete model line-up

Model ID Details ModelID is a new device property key in Windows 7
Model ID allows differentiation between devices that share the same make and model If a device model comes in multiple colors, each color has a different ModelID to match the appropriate metadata package The same make and model of a cell phone is branded by several OEMs; each OEM-branded phone has a different ModelID

More Specific Less Choose the HardwareID that most narrowly identifies the device It’s OK to pick multiple HardwareIDs if needed Too Generic
