1 Pre-Registration for 2019-2020 School Year
Incoming 10th, 11th, 12th

2 Schedule for Pre-Registration
9th - 11th grade students will be pre-registering in small group settings based on chosen endorsement. You will receive a notification of the date/period of your meeting. You will not check in to your class first, you will report directly to the counselor’s office at the indicated time. Pre-registration meetings will be held as follows: 11th January 23rd – January 25th 10th January 28th – January 30th 9th January 30th – February 4th

3 Pre-Registration Booklet
Gives information on policies and procedures Maps out all possible endorsement/specialization paths Gives a description of every class offered at the high school Lists grade requirements for each course Lists the number of credits (periods required) for each course Lists the grade point scale for each course

4 Where to Find Pre-registration Booklet
The pre-registration guide can be found on the high school website under counselor’s corner. Or one can be picked up in the counseling office.

5 Before your meeting with counselor consider:
Do you want to participate in a specific program like Band, Athletics, or Theater? Are you interested in a specific certification program like Cosmetology, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Veterinary Science? Are you interested in taking honors, dual-enrolled and/or Advanced Placement courses?

6 Plan to Dual Enroll? Do Some Research!
LCM offers some basic dual enrollment courses, but that does not mean they are needed by every student, nor does it mean they will transfer everywhere. Do some research on your colleges of interest before choosing dual enrollment. Do you need the course for your major? Will it transfer to your college of interest? Don’t overload yourself…taking more than 2-3 courses for dual enrollment on top of extra curricular activities, work, other advanced courses, etc. may not be a great idea! Tools to help you determine if you will need a dual enrollment course can be found on the high school website under counselor’s corner

7 Scheduling and Course Selection
Be sure to review your endorsement requirements in the Pre-registration booklet and choose the next course in your sequence. If you do not remember your endorsement, it can be found in your Skyward student account. If you plan to change your endorsement you should decide that before your meeting. All courses for the new endorsement must be able to fit in your graduation plan Be mindful of pre-requisites to courses

8 Choose your Electives Counselors will help you decide on the next appropriate course for math, science, English & social studies You will need four additional courses, come prepared with up to four elective choices in case you have fulfilled all of your required courses Some electives do have pre-requisite courses that must be completed prior to taking Seniors who qualify may schedule 1 or 2 “no classes” Seniors are also eligible for office aide for one period

9 Alternate Requests You will need to provide us with up to three alternate requests. Please choose these wisely. It is likely these will be used in the event there is a conflict with one of your courses. If you do not provide any alternate requests, the counselors will choose for you if necessary. Alternates/Electives cannot be courses you’ve already taken and some require teacher approval

10 PLEASE look over your options and be ready with your course selections.
In your pre-registration meeting you will be choosing your required classes, your electives, and your alternates You will enter these into Skyward while in your meetings You will have the opportunity to discuss your choices with your family, teachers and friends Changes can be made to your requests in Skyward at any time until February 15, 2019

11 No changes in electives will be made after this date! CHOOSE WISELY!
At the end of February, each student will receive a list of their selections in the mail for verification. Any additional changes must be made by your counselor and can be changed until February 28, 2019. No changes in electives will be made after this date! CHOOSE WISELY! The only changes made after this date will be level changes (into/out of advanced grade point classes)

12 College Bound? Things to Consider
Some colleges may not recognize Computer Science as a foreign language for satisfying admission requirements. Students should check with their prospective colleges to learn about admission requirements. Additionally, some colleges may require physics for admission. All Honors, Pre-AP, AP, and designated dual enrollment courses receive advanced grade points
