Is there an opening paragraph? Is it in bold or italicized?
Does it introduce the reading passage, story, or textbook chapter?
What does it tell me I will be reading about?

6. Every First Sentence In a Paragraph
What do I think this reading is going to be about based on the first sentence in each paragraph?

7. Visuals and Vocabulary
Are there pictures? Graphs? Charts?
What do the captions say?
Is there a list of key vocabulary words?
Are there important words in bold type?

What do the questions ask?
