FBI - Mission or Purpose
Protect and defend the United States, to uphold and enforce the criminal laws of the United States. Examples of Work: execute a search warrant, gather evidence, gather intelligence, make arrests

BORDER PATROL – Mission or Purpose
Preventing terrorists and terrorists weapons from entering the United States Examples: Preventing the illegal entry and smuggling of aliens into the United States. Preventing terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering into the United States.

DRUG ENFORCEMENT AGENCY (DEA) – Mission or Purpose
Enforce the controlled substances laws and regulations of the United States Examples: Investigation and preparation for the prosecution of major violators of controlled substance laws Investigation and preparation for prosecution of criminals and drug gangs

U.S. SECRET SERVICE – Mission or Purpose
Provides physical security to the nation’s highest elected leaders, visiting foreign dignitaries, facilities and major events. Examples: Executes security operations that deter, minimize and decisively respond to identified threats and vulnerabilities. Provide protection from threats

BUREAU OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, FIREARMS AND EXPLOSIVES– Mission or Purpose
Protects our communities from the illegal use and trafficking of firearms, the illegal use and storage of explosives, and the illegal diversion of alcohol and tobacco products Examples: Target, investigate and recommend prosecution of these offenders that manufacture, wholesale and importation of alcohol and tobacco. Regulating the alcohol and tobacco industries

NC HIGHWAY PATROL– Mission or Purpose
Reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. Examples: Guide traffic during hurricane evacuations Stand ready, should any act of terrorism occur.

NC SBI– Mission or Purpose
Secure a more effective administration of the criminal laws of the state by investigating crimes, identifying and apprehending criminals, and preparing evidence for use in criminal courts. Examples: provides assistance to local law enforcement agencies conducts criminal investigations of allegations in areas of original jurisdiction

WAKE FOREST POLICE – Mission or Purpose
Protect property and life of its citizens in which we serve with pride and honor. Examples: Investigations, Patrol, Arrests

WAKE COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE– Mission or Purpose
Works to improve the quality of life in our communities by reducing fear, preventing crime and enforcing the laws while protecting each individual’s freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States and North Carolina. Examples: Investigations, Patrol, Arrests

TOD - April 2 Answer the following questions on a post it: After watching the video on the juvenile detention center – what things did you see that you thought were helpful and would help the “prisoners” rehabilitate themselves? What things did you see that you think were not helpful? Is there anything else that you think can be done in the juvenile detention centers to help the detainees become better citizens when they leave?
