2. G20 Osaka Summit: Agenda Prospects
1. Date and Venue: June 28-29, 2019 (Osaka, Japan)
2. Priority Agenda
(a) Achieve sustainable growth of the global economy
Address risks and challenges of the global economy and be ready to respond effectively, as downturn risks appear to be on the rise and as trade tensions have started to have negative impact on the real economy.
Regain confidence in the multilateral trading system.
Provide strong political impetus for a better functioning WTO, attuned to the rapidly changing global trading environment, such as the explosive growth in e-commerce.
Make efforts tackle persistent market-distorting trading practice
(b) Address disparities towards realizing a more equitable and inclusive growth
Women’s empowerment: promote efforts for improved labor participation by women, as well as measures to foster environments conducive to greater empowerment, including education and entrepreneurship.
Population ageing: new topic introduced by the Japanese presidency, towards achieving more inclusive growth.

3. G20 Osaka Summit (c) Address global challenges
SDGs: Produce an annual update on G20 efforts, which this year is designed to contribute to the high-level discussion of the UN in September.
Marine plastic litter: Set forth effective international measures.
Africa: Produce useful inputs to TICAD 7 hosted by Japan in August.
Climate change: Find common ground for concerted actions.
Quality infrastructure: Elaborate a set of principles such as transparency, openness, economic efficiency and debt sustainability.
(d) Harness the power of innovation such as IOT and AI to foster growth and
overcome economic and social challenges
Harness the power of innovation to overcome wide-ranging economic and social challenges, from population ageing to climate change.
Address issues that arise from innovation-driven changes and respond to economic and social dislocation.
Make efforts to create an appropriate system of digital economy. Promote “Data Free Flow with Trust” and create a strong political momentum for the negotiation on e-commerce within the framework of the WTO.
