May 13-17 Important Dates Diagnostic Testing- May 13 and 14 Awards Day – May :00 to 11:30 Reading nine weeks test- May 17 Language Nine Weeks test- May 20 Field Day May 23 Last Day May 24 60% Day Reading- This week we will read the book Into the Dark Waters We will do a Mississippi project in the classroom. . Writing The students will respond to writing response questions. Writing are graded using the MAAP writing rubric. See the writing section of my school web page to view the rubric. Students should be able to CITE evidence from the text to support every answer choice they make. Students should be composing answers in complete sentences with appropriate capitalization and punctuation. (According to the text, In paragraph --- the author stated, Based on what I read, on page the author states, One example is, one reason is…)

page for our class! Mrs. Boddie’s Brag Board Reading Informational Text Refer to details and examples in text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text. Determine the main idea of text and explain how it is supported by key details’ summarize the text. Explain events, procedures, ideas, or concepts in a historical, scientific, or technical text, including what happened and why, based on specific information in the text. Explain how the author uses reasons and evidence to support particular points in a text. Interpret Information presented visually, orally, quantitatively, and explain how the information contributes to the understanding of the text in which it appears. Write to informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly. Remember to use i-Ready at home. If your child is not currently working on the fourth grade level, he or she will have more lessons to master in order to end on level in May. Students should log at least 60 minutes a week on i-Ready. Some students may need longer to complete an entire lesson at a higher level. Use i-Ready lessons at home to enhance previously taught skills. If your child is NOT currently working on fourth grade level, he or she will have MORE lessons to master in order to finish the year on level in May. (Look for extra vocabulary & phonic lessons.)
