Glucose reabsorption in the kidney.
Glucose reabsorption in the kidney. Animal studies40 have shown that SGLT2 is predominantly expressed in the early proximal tubule and is responsible for the majority of glucose reabsorption. SGLT1 is present in the late proximal tubule and may reabsorb additional glucose from the urine. GLUT, facilitative glucose transporter; SGLT, sodium-glucose co-transporter.
