Adam, the Type of Christ Jesus
Adam the first, and Adam the second/last (Christ Jesus) (and even Eve, the “mother of all living”, and the New Jersualem “the mother” of “all living” in Christ Jesus). Adam ('the first') is specifically called “the figure of him that was to come”, Christ Jesus. Rom. 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him (Jesus, the second/last Adam; 1 Cor. 15:45-47 KJB) that was to come.

The word “figure” (Rom. 5:14 KJB) in the koine Greek TR, is [G5179], “τυπος”, “tupos”, or in English, “Type”. Tupos = type, pattern, fashion of. Strong's G See Rom. 5:14 KJB, Adam was the “figure” of Him (Jesus) who was to come. See 1 Cor. 10:6,11 KJB “ensample/s” is the “tupos”, of that which we are to learn from, the “pattern”.

AntiTupos = antitype, reality which is greater than the type/shadow. Strong's G See Heb. 9:24 KJB: “For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, [which are] the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:” see also 1 Pet. 3:21 KJB, “The like figures …”.

Adam, the first, is the type of Adam the second/last, Jesus: 1 Cor, 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 1 Cor. 15:46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 1 Cor. 15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

Adam - is the “first man” (Gen. 1:26, “אדם”, “ADM”, Adam) Jesus Christ - is the “last Adam” (1 Cor. 15:45), “the second man” (1 Cor. 15:47), being “the LORD (ie. Kurios, the JEHOVAH Immanuel, JEHOVAH Jesus) from heaven.” Adam - the first, was a unique son of God (Luk. 3:38) (created) Jesus - is a unique Son of God (Mat. 14:33, 16:16; Jhn. 10:30, etc) (unCreated and Eternal only begotten of the Father, though His earthly body was created (Heb. 10:5)) Adam - was given “dominion” (Gen. 1:26,28; Mic. 4:8) Jesus - likewise given dominion (Psa. 110:1; Dan. 7:14; Mat. 22:44, 28:28; Mar. 12:36; Luk. 10:22, 20:43; Jhn. 17:2; Eph. 1:21; Heb. 1:13, 10:13, etc)

Adam - Wore a crown of glory (Psa. 8:4-6) Jesus - crowned with glory and honour, wore a crown of thorns, and many crowns (Psa. 8:5; Mat. 27:29; Mar. 15:17; Jhn. 19:2,5; Heb. 2:9; Rev. 19:12) Adam - God spake directly to Him (Gen. 1:28-30, 2:15-17, 3:8-14,17-19) Jesus - God spake directly to Him (Mat. 3:17; Mar. 1:11; Luk. 3:22; Jhn. 12:28; 2 Pet. 1:17,18) Adam - married (to Eve) (Gen. 2:21-25, 4:1,25; 2 Cor. 11:3; 1 Tim. 2:13) Jesus - marrying (to His Eve, the Church) (Mat. 9:15, 25:1,5,6,10; Mar. 2:19,20; Luk. 5:34,35; Jhn. 3:29; Rev. 18:23, 21:2,9, 22:17)

Adam - was a shepherd over a flock (Gen. 1:26,28, 2:19-20; Psa. 8:6-8; Mic. 4:8) Jesus - is the Chief Shepherd over the flock (Zec. 13:7; Mat. 9:36, 25:32, 26:31; Mar. 6:34, 14:27; Luk. 15:6; Jhn. 10:2-16,27, 21:15-17; Heb. 13:20; 1 Pet. 2:5, 5:4; Rev. 2:27, 12:5, 19:15) Adam - sowed seed and reaps a harvest (Gen. 3:17-19) Jesus – sowed good Seed (Himself) and reaps a harvest (Mat. 13:1-43; Mar. 4:1-34; Luk.10:2; Jhn. 4:35-38; Rev. 14:1-20) Adam - thorns and thistles (Gen. 3:18) Jesus - thorns (Mat. 27:29; Mar. 15:17; Jhn. 19:2,5)

Adam - begins with glorious body of flesh (Psa. 8:5) and through sin, the light goes out and is left naked, and ashamed (Gen. 3:10) with sinful fallen flesh (Rom. 8:3) Jesus - is born (Luk. 1:35) of Mary (flesh; Jhn. 3:6) by the Holy Ghost (spirit), begins with the likeness of fallen sinful flesh (does not make Him a sinner, see 1 Jhn. 3:4) as we have (Mat. 1:1-18; Luk. 3:23-38; Jhn. 7:42; Rom. 1:3; 2 Tim. 2:8; Heb. 2:16, etc.), but becomes glorified (permanently) when Resurrected (Jhn. 12:16, 17:5; Act. 3:13; Php. 3:21; Rev. 1:13-20, etc) Adam - went to sleep on the 6th day (Gen. 2:21) Jesus - went to sleep on the 6th day (Mat. 28:6; Mar. 15:37,39; Luk. 23:46)

Adam - was to keep the 7th day with God (Mar. 2:27; Gen. 2:1-3; Exo. 20:8-11, etc) Jesus - kept the 7th Day (Luk. 4:16; Mar. 2:27-28), even in death (Luk. 23:54-56, 24:1-2) Adam - His side was opened (Gen. 2:21) Jesus - His side was opened (Jhn. 19:34; 1 Jhn. 5:6,8) Adam - From his side comes his bride/wife, Eve, bone of his bones, flesh of his flesh (Gen. 2:21-25) Jesus - From His side comes His bride (church) (Eph. 5:22-33) Adam - was in a garden (Gen. 2:7-8) Jesus - was in several gardens (Gen. 3:8; Jhn. 18:1,26, 19:41; Rev. 2:7)

Adam - has many sons and daughters (Gen. 5:4) Jesus - has many sons and daughters (Heb. 2:9-18 (vs 13); Isa. 8:8-20 (vs 18); Jhn. 13:33, 17:6,12) (He is true Israel; Mat. 2:13-15; Hos. 11:1; Jer. 31:33; Heb. 3:6, 8:8,10) Adam - died because of sin (Gen. 2:17; Psa. 90:4; 2 Pet. 3:8; Gen. 5:5) Jesus - died because of our sins (Rev. 5:6,12, 13:8; Mat. 1:21, 28:6; Mar. 15:37,39; Luk. 23:46; 1 Cor. 15:3; 2 Cor. 5:21; Gal. 1:4; Heb. 9:28, 10:12; 1 Pet. 2:24, 3:18; 1 Jhn. 2:2,12, 3:5, 4:10) Adam - was cast out of the garden into a wilderness (Gen. 3:24) Jesus - overcame in a wilderness to enter the Garden, and was thrust out of the city, to suffer without (Mat. 4:1; Mar. 1:13; Luk. 4:1, 13:33; Heb. 13:12)

Adam - was made in the “image of God” (Gen. 1:26-27) Jesus - is the “express image” of His Father (Heb. 1:3) Adam - came death upon all men (1 Cor. 15:21-22) Jesus - came the resurrection to eternal life to all who would believe (1 Cor. 15:21-22) Adam - gave names (Gen. 2:20) Jesus - gave names (Gen. 17:5,15, 32:28, 35:10; 2 Sam. 12:25; Neh. 9:7; Mat. 4:18; Mar. 3:16,17; Luk. 6:14, etc.) Adam - the tree (Gen. 2:16,17) Jesus - the tree (Deut. 21:22-23; Act. 5:30, 10:39, 13:29; Gal. 3:13; 1 Pet. 2:24, etc.)

Adam - was naked for sin (Gen. 3:10) Jesus - was naked for our sins (Heb. 12:2) Adam - the slain lamb (Gen. 3:21; Rev. 13:8) Jesus - is the Lamb slain for Adam (Jhn. 1:29,36; 1 Cor. 5:7; Rev. 5:6, 13:8) Adam - the two types (Cain (wicked/lost) and Abel (righteous (by faith)/saved); Gen. 4:1-17) Jesus - the two types also (Sheep and Goats (Mat. 25:31-46), Wheats and Tares (Mat. 13:24-30,38), Wise and Foolish (Mat. 25:1-13))
