Wearable Technologies Ltd (WTL)
Established in 2013 in Leicester, WTL’s patented technology has driven the development of their Connected Worker Platform WTL’s solutions: improve industrial worker Health & Safety (H&S) and wellbeing provide globally accessible data using WTL’s cloud-based IoT platform and dashboard provides a comprehensive platform & dashboard to capture, analyse and present data – turning raw information into business insight provide real-time worker alerts & messaging to enable faster response/rescue incorporate advanced analytics for employee risk exposure, and long term occupational health tracking promote H&S compliance and provide better H&S incident management through high- quality incident reporting and identification of safety blackspots reduce corporate and reputational risk create an opportunity to reduce insurance premiums

Issues (1) Construction is still the most dangerous sector in terms of number of fatalities (38 in 2017/18) Big improvements have been made in increasing employee H&S awareness & training, putting in place company-wide strategic H&S incident programmes and initiatives (‘…’ Zero ‘…’), increased compliance enforcement, increased sanctions for non-compliance … …. but the fatal and non-fatal injuries trends in recent years remain stubbornly flat Only a significant transformation of how H&S risk is proactively monitored and mitigated will change this

Issues (2) Source: UK section of the European Survey of Enterprises on New and Emerging Risks (ESENER-2), 2014 BUT … “… the construction sector remains the least productive industry in the UK economy, at more than 20 percentage points below the average output per hour for the whole economy in 2017.” Source: ONS – Labour productivity: Breakdown of contributions Using H&S to increase productivity is less important in Construction? BUT … Construction margins are low; the Top20 UK constructors’ average only 0.63% margin*, at a time when the construction industry needs … “…the right returns to enable it to invest in the workforce of the future and the innovation needed to deliver the infrastructure that will drive long-term economic growth for the UK.” Leo Quinn, CEO, Balfour Beatty (quoted in Aug 2017) Lack of money for H&S is much less of a problem in Construction? * Source:

WTL’s Connected Worker Platform
sensor agnostic - ability to link with any 3rd-party bluetooth sensor securely captures and stores workers’ sensor and other data workforce wear sensors appropriate to their role/task includes worker “Assistance Required” button and ability to instantly locate workers e.g. in an emergency provides instant alerts of immediate risks in their local environment to: the worker a central dashboard to nearby colleagues and the worker’s supervisor (if appropriate)
7
WTL’s Connected Worker Platform
alerts can include proximity to nearby moving plant/vehicles (PWS), mislaid/forgotten PPE, dangerous noise/gas emissions, … ability to send messages to individual workers or to groups of workers enables construction site zoning (geofencing) provides analysis of historical and long term data e.g. occupational health fully secure and scalable provides custom reporting of e.g. RIDDOR incidents or occupational health information safety incident investigation module affordable SaaS model (OpEx)
8
WTL’s Connected Worker Platform
WTL’s Connected Worker Platform is Sensor Agnostic – a unique proposition in the market: integrated with a wide variety of devices from 3rd-party sensor vendors: enabling you to address a wide range of real-world H&S problems, including: Human/Vehicle proximity/collision warning Lone Worker alarm/check-in Fall Detection Posture Monitoring Physiology Monitoring (vital signs) Noise Detection Gas Detection Vibration Detection Emissions Detection Presence of PPE – hard hats, gloves, boots, respirators, harnesses, … Live stream video from body worn cameras

Opportunity for Significant Transformation
Safety: real-time awareness of threats and incidents increases worker Health & Safety and decreases response times Health: quickly and easily capture, monitor & report on longer term occupational health issues such as HAV, noise and emissions exposure, etc. Historical Data: capturing actual data helps promote better working practices Reputation Enhancing: opportunity for market leadership position for innovation using this rapidly growing technology; ability to offer new capabilities to project customers Flexibility: applicable to many Construction use cases in construction Intelligent Analytics: enhanced data collection = enhanced risk assessment and safety by design Competitive Advantage: potential to de-risk rates and reduce insurance premium overhead
